About Artist

Robert Copeland believes art should reflect the vision and emotion of the artist. The diverse styles of his paintings reflect how he felt toward the subject at that particular time of his life. His art is a reflection of his life journey and his ever changing perception of creation.

Robert Copeland was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He has always had an interest in art, especially painting and photography. Although he enjoyed taking art classes throughout elementary and secondary school, he chose to pursue a degree in business while attending Texas Tech University. After earning his Bachelor degree in Marketing, he married his college sweetheart, Kristy, and they moved to Houston.

After several unfulfilled years in business, Robert began to rethink his career choice. Around that same time, his son was born. The decision to stay home and care for their son provided Robert with the opportunity to explore his interest in art. Robert was fortunate to meet local Artist, Margaret Grimmer. With Margaret’s help and guidance, Robert began to learn the process of painting. Margaret’s hand-on instructional approach allowed Robert to learn by making mistakes and the technical skill needed to correct those mistakes.

After several years, a decision to move closer to Kristy’s job provided Robert the opportunity to proceed with his art independently. Although he continued to paint, Robert’s desire to work in different styles of expression drove him to pursue a mentor in Wildlife and Landscape Fine Art. After attending a few workshops lead by Jerry Yarnell, Robert began making the trip to Jerry’s private studio to study.  Robert continues to work with Jerry and works to refine his artistic technique.
